Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are willing to take part and have signed a consent form agreeing to join the study
  • You are 14 years old or older (any gender)
  • You have been diagnosed with locally advanced thyroid cancer confirmed by a tissue sample test, which may include papillary, medullary, follicular, or poorly differentiated types
  • Your cancer has a specific change (alteration) in a gene called RET, either a fusion or a mutation
  • Your thyroid cancer is considered "locally advanced," meaning at least one of the following applies: surgeons believe a complete removal would be very difficult or impossible; the cancer has grown beyond the thyroid into nearby areas such as the windpipe, food pipe, voice box nerves, or major blood vessels; or a CT scan suggests there is less than an 80% chance the tumour can be fully removed
  • You have at least one tumour that can be measured on a scan
  • If your cancer has spread to other parts of the body, the medical team has assessed whether surgery could still benefit you
  • You are willing to have a tissue sample (biopsy) taken both when you join and when you leave the study
  • Your major organs (such as liver, kidneys, and heart) are working at a normal level

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have previously taken any RET inhibitor medication
  • You have conditions that make it hard to absorb oral (swallowed) medication, such as difficulty swallowing, ongoing nausea and vomiting, long-term diarrhoea, or a blocked bowel
  • You are not willing to have a tumour tissue biopsy or surgery as part of the study
  • You are considered by your doctor to be unsuitable for RET inhibitor treatment or surgery for any reason (confirm with trial site)
