Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (confirmed by tissue sample or a PET-CT scan) that has not yet been treated, and either cannot have surgery or have chosen not to, or people who have a small number of cancer spots that have spread to the lung (no more than 3 spots, each no larger than 5cm).
- People aged 18 or older, of any gender.
- People who are generally able to carry out daily activities, with only mild limitations at most (this is measured on a standard scale called the ECOG scale, scored 0–2).
- People whose blood counts are within acceptable ranges, including red blood cells, platelets, and a type of white blood cell called neutrophils (confirm specific values with trial site).
- People whose kidneys are functioning well enough, based on blood and/or urine tests (confirm specific values with trial site).
- People whose liver function is within acceptable ranges, based on blood tests (confirm specific values with trial site).
- People whose lungs can breathe in at least a minimum amount of air, measured by a breathing test called FEV1 (confirm specific value with trial site).
- People whose general blood test results (referred to as CB6) fall within the normal range.
- People who, along with their family, agree to participate and sign a consent form.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose tumour has grown into the airways (bronchial invasion).
- People who have another illness or condition that makes radiation therapy unsafe, such as an active infection, a heart attack within the past 6 months, or certain ongoing heart conditions such as unstable chest pain, heart failure, or irregular heartbeat that is not controlled.
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have not had a pregnancy test, or anyone who is pregnant.
- People with substance misuse issues, long-term heavy alcohol use, or HIV/AIDS.
- People who have uncontrolled seizures or who are unable to make decisions for themselves due to a psychiatric condition.
- People who have a history of severe allergic reactions or known serious sensitivities.
