Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have voluntarily agreed to take part and have signed a consent form
- People aged 14 years or older and under 80 years old, of any gender
- People who have been diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer confirmed by a tissue biopsy
- People who have had their entire thyroid gland, or nearly all of it, surgically removed
- People whose surgery was not able to fully remove all cancer (called R1 or R2 resection), with any remaining tumour in R2 cases being smaller than 2cm³ in volume
- People whose major organ functions (such as heart, liver, and kidneys) are working normally
- People who are willing and able to attend follow-up appointments as required
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had radiation therapy to the head or neck area
- People whose thyroid cancer includes poorly differentiated or undifferentiated components
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (distant metastasis)
- People who have previously been treated with radioactive iodine (131I)
- People who have previously received or are currently receiving targeted therapy, immunotherapy, or chemotherapy
- People who have had another active cancer within the past 5 years, or who currently have another active cancer (note: certain fully cured skin cancers, early-stage bladder cancer, and certain in-situ cancers may still be eligible — confirm with trial site)
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with other health conditions that would affect their ability to receive standard treatment
- People who, in the trial team's assessment, have other serious circumstances that may make it unsafe or impractical to continue in the study, such as serious illness, severe abnormal test results, or significant personal or family circumstances
- People with claustrophobia who are unable to undergo radiation therapy
- People considered unsuitable by their attending doctor for reasons not listed above
