Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 70 years old (male or female)
- People who were diagnosed with lupus (SLE) at least 24 weeks before the screening visit, and whose diagnosis meets a recognised international classification system for lupus
- People whose lupus is currently active enough to meet specific disease activity scores measured at the screening visit and at the start of the trial (confirm with trial site for exact score details)
- People whose lupus is active enough that, in the opinion of the doctors running the trial, it is appropriate to enter them into a study using an investigational treatment
- People who are already being treated with at least one standard lupus medication, such as oral steroids, antimalarial drugs, and/or immunosuppressant medications
Who may not be able to join:
- People with active lupus kidney disease (lupus nephritis) where, in the doctors' opinion, current medications are not sufficient to keep the person safe, or where additional treatments not allowed in the trial would be needed
- People who have had a blood clot (in a vein or artery) in the past 6 months, or within the past 12 months if it was linked to antiphospholipid syndrome or another condition that increases clotting risk
- People who have an active skin condition other than lupus-related skin disease (for example, psoriasis or certain other inflammatory skin conditions) that could make it difficult to assess lupus skin symptoms
- People with severe active lupus affecting the brain or nervous system
- People who have another active inflammatory condition besides lupus (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or similar conditions) that could interfere with assessing lupus symptoms, in the opinion of the trial doctors
