Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 80 years of age with a BMI of 30 or higher (classified as obese)
- Male patients with obesity who are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) surgery that does not involve the chest
Who may not be able to join:
- Patients who need to be awake during the breathing tube insertion because of a problem with their neck or spine
- Patients with unstable blood pressure or circulation at the time of surgery
- Patients with airway or lung conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, or cystic fibrosis
- Patients who currently have an upper respiratory infection (such as a cold) or a blocked nose
- Patients who have a known allergy or sensitivity to the medication being used in the trial
