Who might be able to join this trial:

For children with Cystic Fibrosis:

  • The child has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, confirmed by having 2 known CF gene changes and/or a sweat test result above 60 mmol/L
  • The child is between 1 and 18 years old
  • The child is in a stable state of health at the time of signing up for the trial

For healthy children (comparison group):

  • The child is between 1 and 18 years old

Who may not be able to join:

For children with Cystic Fibrosis:

  • The child uses a breathing support machine at night or requires extra oxygen
  • The child shares a bedroom with a brother or sister
  • The child has taken antibiotic medicines by mouth or through a drip in the last 2 weeks (except for a regular low-dose antibiotic called azithromycin)
  • The child splits their time living between two separate homes (shared custody)

For healthy children (comparison group):

  • The child shares a bedroom with a brother or sister
  • The child has a long-term breathing or heart condition, such as a chronic cough, Cystic Fibrosis, asthma, sleep apnea, or a heart condition present from birth, or any other condition that the trial doctor believes causes ongoing nighttime symptoms
  • The child splits their time living between two separate homes (shared custody)
