Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older who are scheduled to have surgery to fully or partially remove a kidney because of kidney cancer.
- People who are considered to be in reasonably good to moderate overall health before surgery, based on a standard medical assessment (known as ASA class I–III — confirm with trial site if unsure which category applies to you).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who do not want to take part in the study.
- People whose body weight relative to their height (BMI) is either very high (above 35) or very low (below 15).
- People with severely reduced kidney function, serious liver disease, or severe heart failure.
- People who are considered to be in poor overall health before surgery (ASA class IV or higher — confirm with trial site).
- People who have allergies to certain anaesthetic medicines used in this study, blood clotting problems, or a skin infection at the area where an injection would be given.
- People who are currently dependent on strong pain-relief medicines (opioids).
- People who are unable to communicate before surgery due to severe memory loss, a language barrier, or a mental health or neurological condition.
- People for whom the planned procedures in this study cannot be carried out for technical reasons (confirm with trial site).
