Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are older than 55 years of age
  • People who have been diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 chronic kidney disease, or whose kidney function test (eGFR) shows a result below 45 mL/min/1.73m²

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose blood pressure is poorly controlled and consistently above 160/100
  • People who have had a heart attack or other coronary heart event in the past 6 months
  • People with severe heart failure (classified as Class III or IV)
  • People who experience chest pain (angina) at rest or during physical activity
  • People who have had unexplained fainting episodes in the past year where the cause has not been identified and resolved
  • People with severe lung disease (COPD) that requires them to use oxygen at home
  • People who have a medical reason that prevents them from doing resistance (strength) training, including a history of bleeding in the brain or eyes, or diabetes with a serious active eye condition called proliferative retinopathy
  • People with a significant history of serious arthritis or narrowing of the spinal canal in the back
  • People who have been diagnosed with dementia, or who score below the expected range on a standard memory and thinking test
