Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 64 years old
  • Your native language is European Portuguese
  • You have been diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) according to recognised medical guidelines, regardless of which type
  • Your OCD symptoms score at least 16 on a standard OCD severity scale called the Y-BOCS
  • You have tried at least two different antidepressants (called SSRIs) at the highest dose you could tolerate for at least 12 weeks each, without your symptoms improving by at least 25%
  • You have also tried adding a medication called risperidone or aripiprazole to your antidepressant for at least 12 weeks at the highest tolerated dose, without your symptoms improving by at least 25% or your Y-BOCS score remaining at 16 or above

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a current or past history of a psychotic illness such as schizophrenia or delusional disorder
  • You have bipolar disorder
  • You have a tic disorder
  • You have borderline personality disorder
  • You have social anxiety disorder
  • You have a current or past history of an eating disorder in the last 6 months
  • You have a history of a neurological condition or a traumatic brain injury
  • You have a history of alcohol or illegal substance misuse in the last 6 months
  • You are currently experiencing, or have experienced in the last 6 months, a major depressive episode
  • You have had deep brain stimulation treatment
  • You have a sensory impairment (such as a serious hearing or vision problem) that would prevent you from taking part
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are currently receiving, or have received in the last 6 months, any form of psychotherapy
  • You are taking certain medications or receiving treatments that are not permitted in this trial (confirm with trial site)
  • You have an allergy to the study drug pramipexole or any of its ingredients
  • Your kidneys are not working well enough, based on a specific medical calculation (confirm with trial site)
  • You have moderate to severe heart failure (classified as NYHA class III or IV) or another serious heart or cardiovascular condition
  • You have low blood pressure while sitting down, or a significant drop in blood pressure when you stand up, measured at your screening appointment
  • If you have a reason why you cannot have an MRI scan, you may not be able to take part in certain parts of the study (confirm with trial site)
