Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 80 years old, whose Care Partner is also at least 18 years old at the time of signing consent
- People who have been diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease (kidney failure) and are being treated with regular dialysis, with their dialysis working well enough to meet specific targets, and who their kidney specialist considers to be stable
- People who have a working and stable access point for dialysis (such as a tube in a vein, or a surgically created connection in the arm) that allows blood to flow at a sufficient rate
- People who, along with their Care Partner, are able to pass a skills and understanding assessment before the end of the training period
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose haemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells) is too low at the screening stage
- People who have had repeated episodes of low blood pressure during dialysis sessions that needed medical treatment — such as stopping fluid removal or giving extra fluids — on at least two occasions during the run-in period, including specific patterns of blood pressure that are too low before or during dialysis (confirm with trial site for exact thresholds)
- People with a documented history of not following their dialysis treatment as prescribed, in a way that would make completing the study unlikely
- People whose average fluid removal rate during dialysis was too high in the two weeks before screening, based on their medical records
- People who experienced a serious heart or cardiovascular event in the 90 days before screening
