Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 15 and 59 years of age.
- People who have been diagnosed with a mood disorder (such as bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder) based on a clinical interview and the DSM-5 diagnostic guidelines.
- People who are also experiencing symptoms of anxiety.
- People who are experiencing stress symptoms, as measured by a score of 10 or higher on a standard stress questionnaire called the Perceived Stress Scale.
- People who are able to fill out questionnaires on their own and communicate in Korean.
- People who are willing to attend and take part in weekly treatment sessions.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with a major psychiatric condition other than a mood disorder, such as schizophrenia, alcohol or substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder.
- People with bipolar disorder who are currently experiencing severe psychotic symptoms or are in an active manic episode.
- People who are currently having serious thoughts of suicide.
- People who have also been diagnosed with a personality disorder, such as borderline, antisocial, or narcissistic personality disorder.
- People who have taken part in a mindfulness-based cognitive therapy program within the past 3 months.
- People who are currently receiving other non-medication-based psychological treatments, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy or psychoanalysis.
- People who have a neurological condition or history of brain injury, such as epilepsy/seizure disorder, stroke, a brain tumour, a degenerative brain condition, or a significant head injury involving loss of consciousness for more than 5 minutes.
- People who have been diagnosed with a cardiovascular (heart or blood vessel) condition, such as high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, or irregular heart rhythm.
- People who have hearing loss or tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
- People whose ability to understand the study or make decisions about taking part is significantly limited — for example, due to an intellectual disability (IQ below 70) or dementia.
- People who have medical, psychological, social, or legal circumstances that would make it difficult to continue participating throughout the program.
