Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your body mass index (BMI) is above 30 kg/m² and you have at least one health condition related to your weight (such as diabetes or high blood pressure), OR your BMI is above 35 kg/m² even without any weight-related health conditions
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously had weight loss surgery and would be having a second or follow-up operation
- You are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant within the next 24 months
- You are currently taking any other medications to help with weight loss
- You have high blood pressure that is not well controlled by treatment
- You currently use opioid (strong painkiller) medications on a regular basis, or take medications like methadone or buprenorphine, or are going through opioid withdrawal
- You are currently taking any other medication that contains bupropion (an ingredient also used in some antidepressants and stop-smoking aids)
- You are taking a type of antidepressant called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (confirm with trial site)
- You have severe, end-stage liver or kidney disease
- You are taking blood-thinning or antiplatelet medications called ticlopidine or clopidogrel (confirm with trial site)
- You are taking an antipsychotic medication called thioridazine
- You have epilepsy or have ever had a seizure
- You have a cardiac pacemaker fitted
- You currently have or have previously been diagnosed with an eating disorder such as bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa
