Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who have recently been suspected, based on clinical assessment and brain scans, of having a specific type of aggressive brain tumor (IDH-wildtype glioblastoma or a high-grade IDH-mutant astrocytoma)
- People whose tumor shows uptake on a specialised brain scan called a FET PET scan, as confirmed by a nuclear medicine specialist
- People whose medical team (a neuro-oncology multidisciplinary group) has recommended surgery followed by further treatment
- People whose tumor has been assessed by two neurosurgeons, who both agree that a particular type of extended surgical removal is appropriate
- People with a reasonable level of general physical functioning, as measured by a standard medical scoring tool called the Karnofsky Performance Score (a score of 70 or above out of 100)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had brain surgery or radiation treatment to the head
- People who have another significant brain condition, such as multiple sclerosis, a neurodegenerative disease, or a stroke (confirm with trial site)
- People whose tumor is located in the lower part of the brain (below the cerebellum) or in the spinal cord
- People who do not have enough support from family or others to help them follow through with the treatment plan after surgery
- People who are pregnant
