Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 65 years or older

  • People who have been treated with medication for a psychiatric condition other than depression or anxiety in the past year
  • People with currently untreated or unstable depression or anxiety, identified through a standard questionnaire score above a certain threshold
  • People who have been hospitalised for a psychiatric event in the past year
  • People with a history of mild cognitive impairment or dementia
  • People who score below a certain level on a standard telephone-based memory and thinking assessment
  • People with hearing or vision difficulties that would prevent them from using video call software
  • People with severe arthritis or another joint/muscle condition that makes walking unsafe
  • People currently receiving treatment for a bone fracture
  • People currently taking a weight-loss medication (diabetes medications are permitted if weight is stable)
  • People with certain exercise safety concerns (such as chest pain, dizziness, or frequent falls) who have not received doctor approval
  • People who have had a joint replacement or other orthopaedic surgery in the past 6 months
  • People who have a joint replacement or other orthopaedic surgery planned within the next 18 months
  • People with certain serious or uncontrolled health conditions, including uncontrolled high blood pressure; serious heart disease, stroke, or unstable chest pain within the past year; certain chronic lung diseases; any condition requiring oxygen use; neurological or blood disorders; active cancer treatment (except certain skin cancers); kidney failure requiring dialysis; significant difficulty with basic daily activities; or heavy alcohol use (more than 14 drinks per week)
  • People currently taking part in another research study that involves an active intervention
  • People who are unwilling or unable to follow the study requirements, including being randomly assigned to a group and using technology tools
  • People who are unable or unwilling to attend three virtual testing appointments
