Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Long COVID according to the World Health Organization's definition, meaning you had no mental or neurological symptoms before catching COVID-19, and you have had at least one mental or neurological symptom (such as brain fog, anxiety, or depression) for 2 months or more after testing negative for COVID-19 (for at least 3 months total).
- You are between 12 and 80 years old.
- You are willing and able to give your consent and take part in all assessments and study activities.
Who may not be able to join:
- You had ongoing mental or neurological symptoms before your COVID-19 infection.
- You had a pre-existing heart condition before getting COVID-19, such as an irregular heartbeat, heart failure, or a previous heart attack, or you have a cardiac pacemaker.
- You have a documented history of psychiatric illness, including problems with substance or drug misuse.
- You have had suicidal thoughts or attempted suicide in the 12 months before the study.
- You have any long-term or past neurological condition, such as stroke, head injury, epilepsy, or a brain tumour.
- You have taken part in another clinical trial within the past month.
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- You have had surgery in the two months before the study, or you have surgery planned during the study period.
- You have a brain injury or brain condition caused by something other than COVID-19, such as sepsis, liver or kidney failure, alcohol or drug withdrawal, or medication toxicity.
- You have had open-heart surgery or a cardiac arrest in the last 6 months.
- You have received acupuncture treatment in the month before the study starts.
- You are unable to complete the required assessments at screening due to severe mental, cognitive, or emotional difficulties.
