Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 20 and 65 years old.
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD according to the DSM-5 standard, confirmed through a specific structured clinical interview called the CAPS-5.
- People whose CAPS-5 interview score is 33 or higher.
- People who experience intrusive symptoms — such as flashbacks, nightmares, or unwanted distressing memories — at least 3 times per week.
- People who meet the standard safety requirements for having an MRI scan.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with Complex PTSD or a personality disorder.
- People who have a psychotic disorder, bipolar disorder, autism, or an intellectual disability.
- People who are taking psychiatric medications, unless the medication is one listed in the study protocol and the dose has been stable for the past three months and will not change during the study (confirm with trial site).
- People who do not meet the standard safety guidelines for TMS (a type of brain stimulation) research (confirm with trial site).
- People currently using any of the following substances: imipramine, amitriptyline, doxepin, nortriptyline, maprotiline, chlorpromazine, clozapine, foscarnet, ganciclovir, ritonavir, amphetamines, cocaine, MDMA (ecstasy), PCP (angel's dust), ketamine, GHB, alcohol, or theophylline.
- People who have epilepsy or who take anti-epileptic medications.
- People who have had a traumatic head injury or head surgery.
- People who have any metal implanted in their body — except for dental fillings, amalgam, or orthodontic fittings that have been approved as safe for MRI — or who have implanted electrodes or a pacemaker.
- People who experience migraines.
- People who are pregnant.
- People who have hearing problems.
- People who have consumed alcohol within 24 hours before a TMS session.
- People who have had repeated episodes of fainting with loss of consciousness, or any such episode within the past year.
- People who do not meet the standard safety requirements for having an MRI scan.
