Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older.
- People who have been formally diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (a condition causing joint inflammation linked to the skin condition psoriasis) according to a specific set of classification standards, and who have had symptoms for at least 6 months before the screening visit.
- People whose psoriatic arthritis is currently active, meaning at least 3 joints are tender and at least 3 joints are swollen at the time of assessment.
- People who currently have active plaque psoriasis (a skin condition causing scaly patches), or who have a confirmed history of it from a skin specialist.
- People whose blood tests at screening come back negative for two specific markers (rheumatoid factor and anti-CCP antibodies) that are associated with a different type of arthritis.
- People who have previously been treated with one or more TNF-alpha inhibitors (a type of medication that reduces inflammation) for psoriatic arthritis or psoriasis, and either did not respond well enough after at least 3 months at an approved dose, or had to stop due to safety or tolerability problems after at least one dose.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to the study drug sonelokimab or any of its ingredients.
- People with a known allergy, sensitivity, or medical reason to avoid the study drug risankizumab or any of its ingredients or container components.
- People who have been diagnosed with a long-term inflammatory condition other than psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis.
- People who have been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
- People who experienced 3 or more consecutive weeks of unexplained diarrhoea in the 24 weeks before the baseline visit.
- People who have been diagnosed with arthritis mutilans (a severe, destructive form of joint disease) (confirm with trial site).
- People who have previously received the study drug sonelokimab at any time.
- People who have ever been treated with biologic immunomodulating medications (a category of medicines that work on the immune system) for psoriatic arthritis or psoriasis — whether approved or investigational — other than those that target TNF-alpha.
