Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have a slow urine flow rate (less than 15 ml/sec), or a faster flow rate but with a special bladder test showing that a blockage is still present in the urinary tract
  • You have moderate to severe urinary symptoms (such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, or a weak stream), with a symptom score between 8 and 35 on a standard questionnaire called the IPSS
  • Your prostate has been measured (by ultrasound or MRI scan) and is between 40 and 80 cc in size

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had previous surgery on your prostate or urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body)
  • You have been diagnosed with prostate cancer

  • You do not have the results of a urine flow test or symptom questionnaire from before your surgery
  • There is a diagnosis or concern that your bladder muscle is too weak to contract properly (confirm with trial site)
  • You have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having, a neurological condition affecting your bladder (such as nerve damage or a neurological disease)
  • You have previously had radiation therapy to your pelvic area
