Who might be able to join this trial:
- You (or your child) must be willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in a research study
- You must agree to allow the release of your or your child's health information for the study
- Your child must be under 18 years old when joining the trial
- Your child must have either recurring acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis, as described below:
- Recurring acute pancreatitis means your child has had at least 2 separate episodes of sudden pancreas inflammation, with complete pain relief and at least 1 month with no pain between episodes — each episode is confirmed by stomach pain, high enzyme levels in the blood (amylase or lipase), or scan results showing pancreas inflammation
- Chronic pancreatitis means your child has lasting, permanent changes to the pancreas seen on scans or in tissue samples — this may include stones in the pancreatic ducts, blocked or narrowed ducts lasting more than 2 months, calcium deposits in the pancreas, or biopsy results showing scarring and tissue damage — with or without ongoing stomach pain, digestive problems, or diabetes
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have other serious health conditions that, in the doctor's opinion, cannot be well managed or that could make it unsafe for them to take part in the study
