Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with cancer of the renal pelvis (part of the kidney) or ureter (the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder), confirmed through symptoms, scans, tissue samples, urine tests, or a specialised genetic test called FISH
- People where specialist doctors (an imaging doctor and a urologist) have assessed scans and determined a renal pelvis or ureteral cancer is present, even without a tissue sample
- People where full body scans show the cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body
- People who are not able to have surgery because of poor general health, inability to tolerate anaesthesia, or personal choice
- People aged over 70 years
- People under 70 years who have other health conditions, or where cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes, that make major surgery unsuitable
- People expected to live at least 6 months
- People willing and able to follow the trial schedule and attend follow-up appointments, and who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had radiotherapy to the abdomen or pelvis
- People with other serious, uncontrolled health conditions that could interfere with following the trial plan or affect the results
- People who have had another type of cancer within the last 5 years, unless it was a cancer likely to be fully resolved with treatment (such as certain thyroid cancers, cervical cancer in situ, certain skin cancers, or breast ductal carcinoma in situ treated with surgery)
- People where the trial team judges that full participation in the study is unlikely (confirm with trial site)
