Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have previously tried a structured weight loss program (including diet and exercise guidance for at least 3 months) without losing enough weight.
• People aged 12 to under 18 whose BMI is at or above the 95th percentile for their age and sex, which is considered obesity according to CDC growth charts.
• People aged 12 to under 18 whose BMI is between the 85th and 95th percentile for their age and sex (considered overweight), AND who also have at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, abnormal cholesterol levels, obstructive sleep apnea, or certain liver conditions (MASH or MASLD).

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have already had, or are planning to have, weight loss surgery during the study — such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, or gastric banding procedures.
• People whose obesity is caused by an underlying medical condition, such as a hormonal disorder, a genetic syndrome, or a brain-related cause.
• People who have lost more than 5 kg (11 lbs) in the 90 days before the screening appointment, as reported by themselves, or by a parent or legal guardian where applicable.
• People who have type 1 diabetes, or a history of a serious blood sugar crisis called ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar state.
• People whose blood sugar control measurement (HbA1c) is above 9.0% at screening, as tested by the trial's laboratory.
• People who have a personal or family history of a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma, or a condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Syndrome Type 2.
