Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to understand the study and sign a written consent form
- People aged 18 or older who have had at least one previous kidney transplant
- People whose transplanted kidney has stopped working (for any reason), but lasted at least 3 months before failing
- People currently on dialysis (either hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for no more than 6 months at the time of joining the study, who have been continuously taking anti-rejection medications (tacrolimus or cyclosporine) and steroids since starting dialysis
- People who are already on the waiting list for a deceased donor kidney transplant, or who their treating doctor considers suitable to be placed on that waiting list
- People currently taking the anti-rejection medications tacrolimus or cyclosporine
- People whose immune sensitivity level (called cPRA) is 90% or below at the time of joining the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously received a transplant of another solid organ, such as a liver, lung, heart, or pancreas
- People who are waiting for a kidney transplant from a living donor (related or unrelated)
- People whose failed transplanted kidney lasted less than 3 months
- People who have been on dialysis for more than 6 months at the time of joining the study
- People whose treating doctor does not consider them suitable to be placed back on the transplant waiting list
- People who are pregnant
- People of childbearing age who are not currently using, or do not plan to use, an accepted form of contraception for the duration of the study — acceptable methods include hormonal contraceptives (oral, injected, or implanted), barrier methods (condom or diaphragm with spermicide), an intrauterine device, surgical sterilisation, a transdermal patch, or sexual abstinence; if sexually active, an accepted method must have been in use for at least one month before joining the study (confirm with trial site)
