Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children aged 6 to 16 years old who have leukemia and need a needle inserted into an implantable port (a small medical device under the skin used to give treatments)
- Children who are expected to live for 3 months or longer
- Children and their parents who have been fully informed about the study and have agreed in writing to take part
- Children who do not have any medical reasons that would prevent them from safely using MEOPA® (a pain-relieving gas mixture), such as needing 100% oxygen, having raised pressure in the brain, or having a reduced level of consciousness that prevents cooperation
- Children who do not have any medical reasons that would prevent them from safely using a virtual reality headset, such as epilepsy or a psychiatric illness
- Children and parents who are able to use the self-rating scales required by the study
- Children enrolled in the French Social Security system
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have a condition that affects how they feel or process pain (for example, spina bifida)
- Children who need to be kept separate from others due to an infectious condition (such as conjunctivitis or a contagious skin condition)
- Children who have a history of seizures
