Who might be able to join this trial:

This trial has three separate groups. People may be considered for one of the following:

Group 1 – Behavioral Frontotemporal Dementia (bvFTD) group:

  • Adults aged 18 or older of any sex who have been diagnosed with behavioral variant Frontotemporal Dementia based on current diagnostic standards
  • People who are able and willing to provide signed consent to participate

Group 2 – Bipolar Disorder (BD) group:

  • Adults aged 18 or older of any sex who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder according to standard psychiatric diagnostic criteria (DSM-V)
  • People who are able and willing to provide signed consent to participate

Group 3 – Healthy Comparison (HC) group:

  • Adults aged 18 or older of any sex who have gone through a full diagnostic evaluation for a possible brain or psychiatric condition, and whose results showed no signs of memory or thinking problems and no mood disorders
  • People who are able and willing to provide signed consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease
  • People who have other conditions that could interfere with the study, such as other neurological diseases or a history of substance or alcohol misuse
  • People who have a condition involving inflammation in the body, such as an autoimmune disease or a tumour
  • People who are pregnant
