Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 79 years old
- People who have a known or suspected brain tumour (such as a tumour that has spread from elsewhere in the body, a meningioma, or a glioma) that is causing swelling in the brain and related symptoms
- People who are alert and oriented, scoring 14 or 15 on a standard consciousness assessment called the Glasgow Coma Scale (confirm with trial site)
- People who are relatively functional in daily life, meeting a standard medical performance rating of 0 to 2 out of 5 (confirm with trial site)
- People who are already receiving or are planned to receive cortisone (steroid) treatment for their condition
- People who are able to give their informed consent to participate in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an allergy to egg yolk
- People whose brain swelling has caused a significant shift of brain structures more than 5mm from the centre of the brain (confirm with trial site)
- People who score 13 or below on the Glasgow Coma Scale, meaning they have a reduced level of consciousness
- People whose only symptom from the brain swelling is epilepsy (seizures)
