Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
  • You have proof of a past COVID-19 infection through either a PCR test or a blood antibody test
  • You have tested negative for COVID-19 (by PCR test) at the time of joining the study
  • You have been experiencing mood or depressive symptoms (scoring 15 or more on a specific depression rating scale) for more than 12 weeks since your COVID-19 infection
  • You had no history of psychiatric (mental health) conditions before your COVID-19 infection
  • You do not have any major ongoing physical health conditions or substance use disorders

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a cochlear implant, metal devices near the head, or a history of stroke, head injury, or seizures/epilepsy, as these may make the brain stimulation treatment unsafe
  • A brain activity test (EEG) shows patterns that suggest a risk of seizures
  • You have previously had the type of brain stimulation treatment (rTMS) used in this study
  • You have had a severe allergic or adverse reaction to rTMS treatment before
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You plan to become pregnant during the study
  • You had any mental health conditions before your COVID-19 infection
  • You have serious physical health conditions such as kidney failure, liver problems, heart failure, or cardiovascular disease
  • You have taken antidepressants recently and have not stopped taking them for at least 3 weeks before starting the study
  • You are currently taking antidepressants, antipsychotics, or any medications that lower the seizure threshold during the study
  • You are known or suspected to have issues with following the study rules, or have problems with drug or alcohol use
  • You are unable to follow the study procedures, for example due to language barriers
  • You have taken part in another clinical trial involving an experimental treatment in the last 30 days or are currently doing so
  • You are the investigator running the trial, or a family member, employee, or dependent of the investigator
