Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older and have agreed in writing to take part in the study
- You are already planning to have weight-loss (bariatric) surgery and a liver biopsy to check for a suspected liver condition called MASLD (a type of fatty liver disease)
- You are already scheduled to have a liver scan called a FibroScan
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a build-up of fluid in your abdomen (belly), or you are pregnant
- You have an active implanted medical device in your body, such as a pacemaker or defibrillator
- You have previously had a liver transplant
- You have heart failure and/or a significant problem with one or more of your heart valves
- You have a condition called haemochromatosis (a disorder where too much iron builds up in the body)
- You do not wish to have a liver biopsy or blood tests as part of the study
- You have been diagnosed with an active cancer or another terminal (life-limiting) illness
- You have taken part in another clinical trial within the last 30 days
