Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older.
- People who are scheduled to have a partial kidney removal surgery for a kidney mass that is 7 cm or smaller.
- People who have no more than one active cancer at the time of joining (people with a past or separate cancer may still be considered if the treating doctor determines it would not affect the study's safety or results).
- People with a clinical diagnosis consistent with a type of kidney cancer called renal cell carcinoma, at an early-to-moderate stage, with no spread to lymph nodes, no spread to other parts of the body, and no blood clot in the kidney vein.
- People whose blood test results meet certain minimum levels — specifically, platelet count above 50,000/µL and haemoglobin above 9.0 g/dL.
- People who are willing to sign a consent form and agree to follow all study procedures.
- People who are capable of becoming pregnant must be using an adequate form of contraception throughout the study and for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
- People whose partners are capable of becoming pregnant must agree to use doctor-approved contraception throughout the study and for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a bleeding disorder, including any inherited bleeding condition.
- People with severe liver disease, as determined by the treating doctor.
- People who have a blood clot present in the kidney vein.
- People with severely reduced kidney function (end-stage kidney disease, including those already on dialysis).
- People capable of becoming pregnant who are unwilling or unable to use an acceptable contraception method for the full study period and for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People with any other medical condition, test finding, or health history that the treating doctor believes could make the treatment unsafe, interfere with the study's results, or put the person at high risk of complications.
- People who are prisoners, held in detention against their will, or compulsorily admitted for treatment of a psychiatric or physical illness.
