Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 80 years old, of any sex
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of thyroid cancer called papillary thyroid carcinoma, confirmed through a needle biopsy or fine needle sample
- People whose thyroid tumour measures 2.0 cm (about the size of a small grape) or smaller at its widest point
- People whose scans (ultrasound, neck CT, and chest CT) show no signs that the cancer has spread beyond the thyroid, into nearby lymph nodes, or to other parts of the body
- People who are able to attend follow-up appointments for at least 12 months
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose biopsy results show a more aggressive form of papillary thyroid cancer, or a different type of thyroid cancer altogether
- People who have previously had radiation treatment to the neck area
- People with blood clotting problems, or serious heart, breathing, liver, or kidney conditions
- People who already have a problem with the vocal cord on the opposite side of the neck from the tumour
