Who might be able to join this trial:
- People with a BMI between 30 and 45 kg/m²
- Both men and women are eligible
- People between 18 and 65 years old
- People who exercise less than 2 hours per week of moderate, structured, intentional physical activity (ranging from not exercising at all to being only lightly active)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who smoke or use tobacco more than one pack per week
- People whose weight has changed by more than 5 pounds in the past 3 months
- People with cognitive impairment (difficulties with thinking or memory)
- People who have previously had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery
- People with a history of an eating disorder
- People living with certain health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), inflammatory diseases, untreated thyroid disease, chronic kidney disease, heart failure, or liver cirrhosis
- People taking certain medications that could interfere with the study results, such as steroids, GLP-1 medications (such as those used for weight loss or diabetes), or hormone replacement therapy
- Women who have not yet reached menopause and do not have a regular menstrual cycle of approximately 28 days (plus or minus 2 days), and who are also not using hormonal contraceptives
- People with fasting blood sugar levels above 125 mg/dL or an HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar over time) above 6.4%
