Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 20 and 60 years old
- Your body weight falls into one of two specific ranges: either a healthy/normal weight (BMI 18.5–25) or obese (BMI above 30)
- Women who could become pregnant must be using hormonal birth control (such as the pill or a hormonal coil)
Who may not be able to join:
- People in the normal-weight group who have a history of obesity or type 2 diabetes
- People in the obese group who currently use or have previously used certain diabetes or weight-loss medications called GLP-1 agonists (such as Ozempic or Wegovy) or insulin
- Anyone with a history of eating disorders
- People who smoke, use illegal drugs, or drink alcohol excessively
- Anyone who has previously taken part in a PET scan study
- Anyone who has previously been exposed to significant amounts of radiation
- People who experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces, such as a scanner)
- Anyone — male or female — who is actively planning to have a child in the near future
- Anyone whose overall health condition, in the opinion of the study doctor, could make participation unsafe or affect the study results (confirm with trial site)
