Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily, sign a consent form, and are able to follow the study procedures
- People aged 18 to 75 years old at the time of enrolment, of any gender
- People whose lung cancer has been confirmed by a tissue or cell sample test to be a specific type (non-squamous, non-small cell lung cancer) that has spread to other parts of the body (stage IV), as classified by a standard medical staging system
- People whose cancer does not have certain specific genetic changes known as EGFR sensitive mutations or ALK gene translocations
- People whose doctors expect them to survive for at least 3 months
- People who are largely able to care for themselves and carry out daily activities, as measured by a standard medical scoring tool (a score of 0 or 1 on the ECOG scale)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had radiation therapy to the lungs at a dose above 30 Gy within the 6 months before starting the trial
- People who have completed palliative radiation therapy within 7 days before starting the trial
- People who are expected to need any other type of cancer treatment during the study period
- People who have fluid around the heart, lungs, or in the abdomen that is uncontrolled or causing symptoms and requires repeated draining
- People who have cancer that has spread to the brain stem, the lining of the brain and spinal cord, or the spinal cord itself, or who have spinal cord compression
