Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study.
- People who are 18 years of age or older.
- People who are reasonably active and able to care for themselves (as measured by a standard health scoring tool), and who are expected to live for more than 3 months.
- People who have been diagnosed with one of these types of lung cancer confirmed by a tissue sample: small cell lung cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, or lung squamous cell carcinoma.
- People who have previously received immunotherapy (a type of cancer treatment that uses the immune system) and whose cancer has continued to grow or spread since then.
- People where the area of the body being targeted for radiation treatment has either never been treated with radiation before, or where any previous radiation to that area was completed at least 6 months ago.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer-related conditions are not suitable for radiation treatment, such as fluid build-up around the lungs or abdomen, or cancer that has spread to the lining of the brain.
- People who have other serious health conditions, such as a heart attack within the past 6 months, severe heart rhythm problems, or serious mental illness, or who are not expected to live more than 3 months.
- People who have severe problems with how their major organs are working — such as liver failure or heart and lung failure — that would make it hard to tolerate radiation treatment.
- People who currently have a severe infection.
- People who have a known or suspected active autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body), such as eye inflammation, bowel inflammation, liver inflammation, or kidney inflammation, among others. (People with vitiligo, well-controlled childhood asthma that has since resolved, or type 1 diabetes that is well managed with insulin may still be considered — confirm with trial site.)
- People who experienced severe heart or liver side effects (grade 3 or higher) or very severe side effects in any other organ (grade 4) during previous immunotherapy treatment.
- People whom the trial reviewers determine should be excluded for other reasons, such as circumstances that do not fit with the trial's medical guidelines (confirm with trial site).
