Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 50 years old or older and have been diagnosed with painful spinal fractures caused by osteoporosis (brittle bones), located in the middle or lower back area.
- You have tenderness or pain when the affected area of your spine is touched.
- Your fracture has been confirmed by an MRI scan showing signs of injury in the affected spinal bone.
- Your fracture is classified as a specific type of osteoporotic fracture (types 1–4 — confirm with trial site).
- No more than 4 spinal bones are affected by fractures.
- Your treatment procedure can be completed in a single session.
- Your back pain is rated at 60 or above on a scale of 0 to 100, where 100 is the worst pain imaginable.
- You are able to understand and read Danish.
- You are willing and able to give written consent to take part in the trial.
- Your relevant back pain started no more than 3 months before joining the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a medical reason why spine surgery or procedures on the spine would not be safe for you.
- Your blood platelet count (cells that help blood clot) is too low.
- Your fracture is classified as type 5 or a specific shape called "Pincer-type" (confirm with trial site).
- Your spinal bone has completely collapsed in a way that makes it impossible to insert a needle.
- You have nerve damage or neurological problems related to the fracture.
- You have a reason why you cannot have an MRI scan (for example, certain metal implants).
- You have a psychological or psychiatric condition that may make it difficult to follow the trial requirements.
- You currently have an active cancer diagnosis.
- You score below 24 on a standard memory and thinking test called the Mini Mental State Examination.
- You have a history of long-term back pain that has required ongoing use of strong painkilling medications (opiates).
- You have an infection in or around your spine, either in the local area or throughout your body.
