  • People who have an acute (sudden and active) illness at the time of enrolling in the study
  • People who have an ongoing, unresolved chronic condition affecting the lungs, heart, digestive system, liver, or kidneys that requires medical management or medication
  • People who have any condition involving a weakened immune system, including HIV
  • People who have an untreated gastrointestinal disorder or disease, including inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, coeliac disease, indeterminate colitis, moderate-to-severe irritable bowel syndrome, persistent infectious gastroenteritis or gastritis, persistent or chronic diarrhoea of unknown cause, recurring Clostridium difficile infection, or chronic constipation
  • People who have previously had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery
  • People whose diet has changed significantly in the past month, such as cutting out or greatly increasing a major food group
  • People with a recent history of drinking more than 5 alcoholic drinks per day on a regular basis
  • People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
