Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have tested positive for COVID-19 using a PCR test within 5 days of being admitted to hospital
- People who are breathing normally without the help of extra oxygen
- People who are able to sign a consent form themselves, or who have someone legally authorised to make decisions on their behalf
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a serious allergy (such as anaphylaxis) to Paxlovid or Veklury, or who are taking certain medications that interact with these drugs in ways that could be harmful (confirm with trial site for specific medications)
- People who have taken Paxlovid or Veklury in the 14 days before joining the trial
- People who are currently receiving extra oxygen to help them breathe
- People who had a positive COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test result between 5 and 90 days before being admitted to hospital
- People who are estimated to have 3 months or less to live
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
