Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been receiving regular kidney dialysis (hemodialysis) for at least 6 months, using one of several specific types of dialysis filters or methods (confirm with trial site for which specific filter or method applies)
- People who have been using the same dialysis filter consistently for at least 12 months
- People who produce very little urine on their own — less than 200 ml per day
- People who receive hemodialysis three times per week

Who may not be able to join:
- People who experience drops in blood pressure during dialysis sessions
- People who need dialysis without the use of heparin (a blood-thinning medication)
- People with active (currently occurring) bleeding
- People with active blood or bone marrow conditions
- People with a low platelet count (a blood cell that helps with clotting)
- People with chronic liver disease
- People with active, ongoing inflammatory conditions affecting the whole body
- People with diabetes that is not well controlled
- People who use a temporary access point for dialysis (rather than a permanent one)
- People who have repeated infections at their dialysis access site
