Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are between 22 and 50 years old at the time of signing up for the trial
• You have been diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (a form of MS where symptoms come and go) using standard 2017 diagnostic guidelines
• A specific eye test (called a visual evoked potential, or VEP) shows that signals from at least one of your eyes are traveling more slowly than normal to your brain
• A scan of the back of your eye (called an OCT) shows that you still have enough nerve fibers remaining in the qualifying eye
• Your best corrected vision (with glasses or contacts) is better than a certain minimum level in terms of high-contrast sight (confirm with trial site)
• Your ability to read low-contrast letters (faint grey letters on a white background) in the qualifying eye is reduced to a certain level (confirm with trial site)
• You have not had an MS relapse (a flare-up of symptoms) for at least 12 months before joining
• Your most recent brain MRI (taken within the past year) shows no new or growing MS lesions
• You have been consistently taking an MS medication (called a disease-modifying therapy) — for at least 2 years if it is a moderate-strength medication, or at least 1 year if it is a high-strength medication
• Your level of disability, measured by a standard MS scale, falls within a specific moderate range (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

• You have another eye condition (such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic eye disease) that could interfere with eye testing
• You have severe short-sightedness (a prescription of -6.00 diopters or stronger)
• You have another neurological condition, including significant spinal cord problems in the neck area
• You have had an episode of optic neuritis (inflammation of the eye nerve causing vision loss) within the past 6 months
• You have a documented history of optic neuritis in the qualifying eye more than 5 years ago
• You have had steroid treatment for MS symptoms in the 30 days before signing up
• You are allergic to MRI contrast dye, or are unable to have an MRI scan (for example, due to claustrophobia)
• You have regularly used or been dependent on nicotine products (such as cigarettes or vaping) within the past year
• You are not considered a suitable candidate for surgery (confirm with trial site)
