Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 25 years or younger at the time of joining the trial
- People being treated for AML (a type of blood cancer) or relapsed ALL (a type of blood cancer that has come back) at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where treatment is expected to cause a severely weakened immune system lasting more than 7 days
- People expected to continue receiving care at St. Jude for at least 56 days after joining the trial
- Female participants aged 9 or older who have a documented negative pregnancy test before receiving the study drug
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy to vancomycin, dalbavancin, teicoplanin, levofloxacin, or ciprofloxacin (note: a mild infusion reaction to vancomycin that is not a severe allergic reaction does not count)
- People who have had, or currently have, an infection or bacteria in their body that is resistant to vancomycin and also resistant to ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin
- People who have been diagnosed with long QT syndrome (a heart rhythm condition)
- People whose overall condition the trial doctor considers too high-risk for participation
- People who currently have a suspected or confirmed active bacterial infection
- People who, in the trial doctor's opinion, are unlikely to be able to complete what the trial requires
- People whose expected survival is less than 28 days
- People with certain liver test results that are significantly above the normal range for their age (confirm with trial site)
- People with significantly reduced kidney function, based on a specific kidney filtration rate measurement (confirm with trial site)
- People who have any other medical reason that prevents them from safely receiving the antibiotic medications used in this trial
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
