Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have received a kidney transplant (up to your third kidney transplant)
- Your transplant took place between 12 and 48 months ago
- Your transplanted kidney is working at a stable level, meaning your kidney function and protein levels in urine have been steady over the past 6 months
- You are taking a specific combination of anti-rejection medications that includes either cyclosporin or tacrolimus, plus either Cellcept or Myfortic, with or without steroids
- A virus called TTV can be detected in your blood at the time of joining the trial
- You do not have certain antibodies in your blood that could attack the transplanted kidney (called donor-specific antibodies)
- A virus called BKV cannot be detected in your blood at the time of joining the trial
- You have read and signed a form agreeing to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- Your donated kidney is a perfect genetic (HLA) match to you
- You have received more than one type of organ transplant, or have another working transplanted organ besides a kidney
- Your anti-rejection medication includes a drug called an mTOR inhibitor, belatacept, or azathioprine (Imurel)
- A kidney biopsy taken within the last 3 months showed signs of active rejection
- You currently have an infection that is not under control
- You were hospitalised due to an infection within the last 3 months
- You have been diagnosed with cancer at any point since your current kidney transplant
- You are pregnant, not willing to use reliable contraception, or planning to become pregnant during the 3-year study period
- You are not covered by a social security or equivalent health insurance scheme (confirm with trial site)
- You are under a legal protection order, such as guardianship, or you are not free to make your own decisions
