Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women between 18 and 65 years of age
- People with a laboratory-confirmed diagnosis of cervical cancer, specifically squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, or adenosquamous carcinoma
- People whose cervical cancer has been classified as FIGO 2018 stage IB2
- People whose cervical tumour measures more than 2 cm but no larger than 4 cm, as measured by MRI (or by PET/CT, CT, or ultrasound if MRI is not suitable)
- People for whom a specific type of radical hysterectomy (called a Type C or Q-M classification surgery) has been planned by their medical team
- People with an ECOG performance status score of 0 or 1, meaning they are fully active or have only minor limitations in physical activity (confirm with trial site)
- People who are willing to participate and sign a consent form
- People who are able to attend follow-up appointments and complete required examinations
- Women who have not yet gone through menopause and have a negative pregnancy test within 30 days before surgery
- People whose blood and organ function tests meet the required levels set by the trial (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cervical cancer is a less common type, such as gastric-type adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma, clear cell carcinoma, or carcinosarcoma
- People whose scans suggest cancer has spread to lymph nodes in the pelvis or near the major abdominal blood vessels, or whose biopsy has confirmed lymph node involvement
- People who have previously had radiation therapy to the pelvis or abdomen
- People who have previously received chemotherapy given before surgery (neoadjuvant chemotherapy)
- People whose uterus is larger than would be expected at 10 weeks of pregnancy
- People who have medical conditions that make surgery or anaesthesia unsafe
- People who are unable to be positioned lying tilted with their feet raised (called the Trendelenburg position) during surgery
- People who are unable to cooperate with treatment or attend follow-up appointments
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who have had another type of cancer in the past, unless they have been cancer-free for more than 3 years with no current signs of the cancer returning
