Who might be able to join this trial:
- People with chronic kidney disease at stage G3, meaning their kidney filtration rate (a measure of how well the kidneys clean the blood) was between 30 and 59 units at their last clinic visit

Who may not be able to join:

- People whose blood potassium level is too low or too high at the time of joining the trial
- People whose blood sodium level is too low or too high at the time of joining the trial
- People whose kidney disease is caused by an inherited condition affecting the kidney tubes (tubulopathy)
- People whose kidney disease is caused by a condition called autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease or tubulointerstitial kidney disease
- People with significant heart failure classified as a severe level (New York Heart Association class III or IV)
- People with very high blood pressure that has not responded to treatment (systolic reading above 180 mmHg at the time of joining)
- People currently taking certain medications that affect how the kidneys process substances, including probenecid, pravastatin, cimetidine, cephalosporins, or acetazolamide
- People with active hepatitis noted at their last clinic visit
- People with advanced liver scarring (cirrhosis rated as Child-Pugh B or C)
- People currently misusing drugs or alcohol
- People who are unable to stop taking certain medications that interfere with the trial testing for a 28-day period beforehand
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant before the test day
