Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women between the ages of 18 and 45 who are generally healthy
- Women who have been diagnosed with endometriosis or infertility (this group is referred to as "cases" in the trial)
- Women who have not been diagnosed with endometriosis or infertility (this group is referred to as "controls" in the trial)
- Women who have regular, predictable menstrual cycles
- Women whose body mass index (BMI) falls between 18 and 40
- Women who are or have been sexually active, or who have previously had a vaginal exam using a speculum (a medical instrument used during pelvic exams)
- Women who are able to understand the study procedures and agree to take part and allow their health information to be used
- Women with no history of certain infections, including Chlamydia, Mycoplasma genitalium, Gonorrhoea, Hepatitis B, or HIV
- For women participating through an IVF program: a uterine lining (endometrium) thickness of at least 7mm at the time samples are collected (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- Women who are currently pregnant
- Women who have been diagnosed with cancer of the uterine lining (endometrial cancer)
- Women who have previously had a procedure to remove or destroy the uterine lining (endometrial ablation)
- Women who have unexplained or undiagnosed uterine bleeding
- Women who have reproductive conditions that affect the shape or structure of the uterine cavity, such as fibroids or uterine polyps that distort the uterine lining
- Women who currently have an intrauterine device (IUD) in place
