Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are older than 12 years old, with or without an intellectual disability
- You have been diagnosed with seizures that have not responded well to medication, a difficult-to-control epilepsy condition, or a rare form of epilepsy
- You have had one or more types of seizures in the past that have been identified and recorded, so doctors can recognize your specific seizure pattern
- You are able to take part in the study for the full 3-month duration
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with certain mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or emotionally unstable personality disorder
- You have significant bone or skeletal problems at the area of the body where a small device would be placed, which could make correct placement impossible
- You currently have an infection at the site where the device would be implanted
- You are considered high risk for surgical complications, such as having an active widespread infection or a condition that affects blood clotting
- You already use, or are regularly exposed to, a medical device that sends electrical signals near where the implant would go, such as a cochlear implant (a hearing device)
- Your job or a hobby involves activities that could seriously damage the device or the implant site, such as martial arts or boxing
- You have a known allergy or medical reason why you cannot receive local anaesthetic (numbing medication used during the procedure)
- You are unable to operate the device yourself and do not have someone available to help you use it properly
- You are currently pregnant
