Adults who have agreed to take part and are scheduled for a liver biopsy because doctors suspect a condition called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (a type of liver disease caused by fat build-up, not alcohol) at the time of first diagnosis

People who have other existing liver conditions, such as autoimmune hepatitis, hepatitis B or C, hereditary hemochromatosis (iron build-up disorder), alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency (an inherited condition affecting the liver and lungs), or Wilson's disease (a copper build-up disorder)
