Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are an adult (over 18 years old), male or female, and have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease through an abdominal ultrasound scan
Who may not be able to join:
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who drink more than a certain amount of alcohol regularly (more than 30g per day for men, or more than 20g per day for women — confirm with trial site if unsure what this means for you)
- People whose liver disease is caused by something other than fatty liver, such as a viral liver infection (like hepatitis B or C), a medication side effect, or an immune system condition affecting the liver
- People who have chronic kidney disease, or a condition that causes their parathyroid gland to be overactive or underactive
- People who are allergic or have had a bad reaction to a medicine called carbocisteine
