Who might be able to join this trial:
Study A (for people with chronic kidney disease, or CKD):
- People whose urine shows a protein level (albumin-to-creatinine ratio) in a specific mid-range — not too low and not too high (confirm with trial site for exact values)
- People whose kidneys are still functioning at a moderate level or above, based on a standard kidney function measurement
- People who have been taking two specific types of blood pressure/kidney-protecting medications (RAS blockers and SGLT-2 inhibitors) for at least 4 weeks before joining
- Women of childbearing age who are using reliable contraception
Study B (for people with polycystic kidney disease, or PKD):
- People who have already been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease (PKD)
- People whose kidneys are still functioning at a moderate level or above, based on a standard kidney function measurement
- People who have been taking a specific type of blood pressure/kidney-protecting medication (RAS blockers) for at least 4 weeks before joining
- Women of childbearing age who are using reliable contraception
Who may not be able to join:
- People with Type 1 diabetes
- People with heart failure
- People with liver disease
- People who have had a kidney transplant
- People with a current or recent cancer diagnosis (skin cancer may be an exception — confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a heart attack, stroke, or a mini-stroke within the 3 months before joining
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with alcohol or drug misuse issues
- People who have done any form of periodic fasting in the 4 weeks before joining
- People who have been regularly following a ketogenic (very low carbohydrate) diet in the 4 weeks before joining
- People currently taking nitrate medications
