Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Children who have been diagnosed with ADHD, in any form
  • Children whose ADHD causes moderate or significant difficulties in daily life
  • Children who show higher-than-usual levels of irritability and/or aggression, as rated by a parent or guardian using specific assessment tools

  • Children who have a medical reason that makes stimulant medication unsafe for them

  • Children who are currently taking antipsychotic or mood-stabilising medications
  • Children who are taking other medications that could interfere with brainwave (EEG) recording, such as benzodiazepines
  • Children who have hearing or vision difficulties that would make it hard to complete computer-based tasks
  • Children who are currently experiencing a major depressive episode
  • Children who are currently having thoughts of suicide
  • Children who have already tried and not responded to two full courses of methylphenidate-based medications AND two full courses of amphetamine-based medications
