Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older (any sex)
- You have been diagnosed with a liver disease related to metabolic problems (such as fatty liver disease linked to obesity, diabetes, or similar conditions), based on the latest medical definitions
- A special ultrasound scan of your liver (called a FibroScan or similar test) has shown a result suggesting your liver may have significant scarring (a score of 10 or higher)
- You have had a camera test to look inside your food pipe and stomach (an endoscopy) within the last 12 months, which checked for enlarged, at-risk veins in those areas
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a blood clot in the main vein that supplies your liver (portal vein thrombosis)
- You have a type of liver cancer or tumour that spreads through the liver tissue (infiltrative liver neoplasm)
- You have a heart condition that causes blood to back up into the liver (congestive liver disease)
- You have a blockage in the bile ducts outside the liver (extrahepatic biliary obstruction)
- Your liver inflammation levels (a blood test called ALT) are more than 5 times higher than the normal upper limit, as this can affect the accuracy of the liver scan results
