- Adults aged 18 or older who are strongly suspected of having a type of lung cancer called non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where the cancer may have spread to lymph nodes in the chest, based on medical assessment and imaging scans, and who are scheduled for a procedure to sample those lymph nodes using a specialised bronchoscopy technique (EBUS-TBNA)
- People whose lymph node samples from that procedure come back negative (meaning no cancer was found in the lymph nodes) and who then go on to need surgery to remove those chest lymph nodes
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable or unwilling to give their consent to take part in the study
- People whose diagnosis is later confirmed to not be non-small cell lung cancer
- People who do not end up needing surgery to remove chest lymph nodes, or who will not be having that surgery at the trial's medical centre for any reason
